Role Description

The Legal Counsel is primarily responsible for leading and managing sales and procurement-related legal matters within the Amcor Rigids EMEA business group (RPSI). In this capacity, the role serves as the key legal partner to the sales and procurement function, supporting strategic projects, contract negotiations, regulatory advice, and dispute resolution.

In addition, the Legal Counsel provides broader legal support, advice, and services to the business group. The role covers a broad range of legal matters, including:

• Drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts
• Litigation and claims handling
• Regulatory, anti-trust and competition law
• Compliance and other dispute-related matters

As a key adviser to the business, the Legal Counsel helps protect the company’s interests and rights by providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring that business activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards within the relevant regions.

The Legal Counsel works closely with business stakeholders to support operations and manage legal risk, contributing to both day-to-day legal matters and more complex strategic initiatives. The role is expected to operate independently within assigned areas while collaborating with other members of the Legal function.

This position reports to the business group General Counsel and works in close coordination with the wider Legal team.

Qualifications

• Law degree with qualification to practice law in a country of the European Economic Area, preferably UK, Germany, France, or Italy.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice, specifically focused on commercial law.
• Deep expertise in drafting and negotiating high-value sales and procurement agreements, focusing on risk allocation, service levels, and long-term strategic sourcing.
• Proven capability in claim handling and litigation management.
• Track record of resolving customer and supplier disputes through strategic negotiation and management of formal legal proceedings/arbitration.
• Experience within an international law firm (private practice) and in-house experience within a large organization.
• Prior experience within a manufacturing or complex B2B environment is highly advantageous.
• Experience operating within an international or multi-jurisdictional framework.
• Strong working knowledge of emerging regulations affecting sales and procurement, including ESG compliance (CSDDD), CBAM, EUDR, data privacy (GDPR), and modern trade sanctions.

Requirements

• Serve as legal partner to the sales and procurement function across the Amcor Rigids EMEA business group (RPSI).
• Draft, review, negotiate, and administer complex sales and procurement agreements.
• Develop, review, and enhance handbooks, forms, training materials, and processes for the sales and procurement function.
• Draft and deliver training on commercial law topics to sales and procurement teams.
• Lead or support litigation and pre-litigation strategy for commercial law-related matters.
• Supervise or coordinate with outside counsel to ensure efficient, cost-effective legal support.
• Provide counsel on commercial contracting, compliance, dispute resolution, and special projects.
• Support management of commercial or compliance-related disputes through mediation, arbitration, or litigation.
• Support M&A execution, due diligence, and integration activities as needed.
• Identify legal risks and partner with Compliance to ensure broad regulatory adherence and strong ethics governance.
• Continuously improve legal processes, templates, tools, and operational systems.
