Role Description
Synthio Labs is looking for a Legal Associate to own and lead the company's end-to-end legal function. The ideal candidate will be based in India and have 5+ years of legal experience, including experience working with US-based companies, preferably in pharma, life sciences, healthcare.

Own the end-to-end legal function and provide legal guidance to the leadership team and business.

Draft, review, negotiate, and manage customer, vendor, partner, NDA, MSA, SOW, DPA, and other commercial agreements, particularly US contracts.

Advise on contractual risks, liability, indemnification, IP, confidentiality, data protection, and other key legal provisions.

Manage vendor and partner legal engagements, including negotiations and onboarding.

Support employee-related legal matters, including employment agreements, consulting agreements, policies, employee relations, and terminations.

Manage ESOP/equity-related matters, including grants, vesting, exercise, employee equity documentation, and coordination with equity platforms and external counsel.

Support fundraising, corporate governance, board matters, shareholder matters, and other corporate transactions.

Oversee IP, compliance, privacy, and regulatory matters.

Support pharma/life sciences customer requirements and contractual compliance.

Manage external legal counsel, legal budgets, and specialist advisors.

Establish scalable legal processes, templates, approval workflows, and contract management practices.

Proactively identify and mitigate legal and business risks as the company scales.
Qualifications

5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably with leading pharma/life sciences companies.

Prior experience working with US-based companies is required.

Strong understanding of US commercial contracts and business practices.

Experience with corporate governance, employment, IP, privacy, compliance, ESOP/equity, and regulatory matters.

Experience working with US customers, vendors, employees, or cross-border transactions is strongly preferred.

Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills.

Ability to independently manage matters end-to-end and work closely with senior leadership.

Strong business judgment, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment is a plus.
