Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our personal injury practice on a remote, independent contractor basis. This role is ideal for a candidate based outside the U.S. who has prior experience supporting U.S. personal injury attorneys and is comfortable working overlapping hours with a U.S.-based team. You will play a key role in managing case files, communicating with clients, and keeping cases moving efficiently from intake through resolution.
Key Responsibilities

Client Interaction

Serve as the first point of contact for clients regarding case updates, scheduling, and general questions.

Maintain regular and professional communication with clients to ensure they feel supported throughout their case.

Case Management Support

Open, organize, and maintain client files in the case management system (Filevine, PINS, or similar).

Draft correspondence, discovery requests/responses, and simple legal documents under attorney/paralegal supervision.

Monitor case deadlines, hearings, depositions, and trial dates, ensuring all events are properly calendared.

Administrative Duties

Schedule client meetings, depositions, mediations, and medical appointments.

Obtain, organize, and summarize medical records, bills, and accident reports.

Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and binders.

Perform general office tasks such as scanning, filing, and managing incoming/outgoing mail.

Team Support

Work closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and investigators to ensure cases progress smoothly.

Support intake and records retrieval processes as needed.
Qualifications

Must have worked for a U.S. based Personal Injury Law Firm before.

Must have some pre-litigation and/or litigation experience in Personal Injury Law.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Previous experience as a personal injury legal assistant, legal secretary, or administrative assistant.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with legal case management software (Filevine preferred).

Knowledge of personal injury terminology and medical record handling is a plus.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.

Benefits

Pay Range: $8.50 - $12.00 U.S. dollars per hour.
