Role Description
Launch your legal career with meaningful, hands-on experience at Mercury Insurance. As a Law Clerk, youโll work closely with experienced trial attorneys supporting complex injury cases and developing the practical skills law school canโt teach on its own.
In this role, youโll be involved in:

Drafting pleadings and discovery documents

Conducting legal research and assisting with motion work

Reviewing and summarizing medical records and case materials
-
Preparing case files and supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process
Youโll gain direct exposure to how cases are built and managed from start to finish, while sharpening your writing, analytical, and research skills in a collaborative, professional environment. Qualifications

Minimum: Completion of the 2nd year of law school.

Preferred: Juris doctor degree.

Minimum: Completion of the 2nd year of law school.

Preferred: 3rd year law student and/or law school graduate pending bar results.

Minimum: Effective communication, persuasion, writing and analytical skills.

Preferred: Exceptional communication, persuasion, writing and analytical skills.

Completion of torts, evidence and civil procedure preferred.

Must meet established company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status to be eligible for position.

Requires automobile travel, up to 20% of work time.

Must reside in the geographic region where office is located.
Requirements

Preparation of initial pleadings and discovery.

Preparation of discovery responses.

Summarize discovery responses and medical records.

Legal research and preparation of motions and oppositions to motions.
-
Preparation of trial documents including motions in limine and providing trial support.

Assist the insured in small claims cases by investigating the facts in order to prepare trial briefs, prepare the insured for trial, attend trial and defend the company when listed as a named party to the action.

Assume other responsibilities as directed.
