Role Description
This is a remote position.
The Lien Negotiator will be responsible for managing and negotiating medical liens, health insurance liens, and other case-related balances on behalf of clients and attorneys. The successful candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of the personal injury process.
Responsibilities

Review case files to identify outstanding medical liens, balances, and subrogation interests

Communicate with medical providers, health insurance companies, government agencies, and lien holders to verify balances and obtain lien information

Negotiate reductions on medical bills, liens, and related expenses to maximize client recovery

Request, review, and analyze lien statements, itemized bills, and supporting documentation

Track and monitor lien statuses to ensure timely resolution

Maintain accurate records of negotiations, balances, and settlements within the firm's case management system

Coordinate with attorneys, case managers, and settlement teams regarding lien resolution strategies

Prepare settlement disbursement information related to negotiated liens

Follow up consistently with providers, carriers, and lien holders to ensure timely responses

Ensure all lien-related documentation is properly organized and maintained

Provide updates to attorneys and staff regarding outstanding negotiations and lien statuses
Requirements

Must be located outside of the United States (international candidates only)

Previous experience as a Lien Negotiator is strongly preferred

Experience working in a personal injury law firm required

Strong understanding of medical liens, subrogation claims, and settlement processes

Experience negotiating with medical providers, insurance carriers, and lien holders

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities

Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously

Experience using case management systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote environment

Reliable internet connection and dedicated remote workspace
Preferred Qualifications

Experience negotiating Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, and health insurance liens

Familiarity with personal injury settlement disbursement processes

Experience using personal injury case management software such as Filevine, Litify, SmartAdvocate, Clio, or similar platforms

Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
