Role Description

Spitz, the Employee’s Law Firm, is seeking a talented Kentucky attorney who wants to do meaningful work representing employees whose careers and livelihoods have been impacted by discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and other unlawful workplace conduct. This is a remote position. You can live and work anywhere in Kentucky.

At Spitz, you will handle real cases for real people facing some of the most difficult moments of their professional lives. You will:

• Work alongside experienced employment litigators
• Take depositions
• Argue motions
• Develop case strategy
• Negotiate settlements
• Prepare cases for trial

This is not a document-review position or a job where junior attorneys spend years waiting for meaningful responsibility.

We are looking for someone who is smart, driven, compassionate, and eager to become an exceptional employment lawyer. Prior employment-law experience is valuable, but it is not required. Strong litigators and attorneys from other practice areas who have excellent judgment, writing skills, and a genuine desire to advocate for employees are encouraged to apply.

• Represent employees in discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and other employment-related matters.
• Manage an active caseload from initial evaluation through resolution.
• Develop case strategy and identify the strongest factual and legal arguments for each client.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and corporate representatives.
• Conduct written discovery and analyze documents, records, and other evidence.
• Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements while protecting each client’s interests and goals.
• Communicate regularly with clients, explain developments clearly, and provide thoughtful guidance throughout the case.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the Spitz team.
• Maintain deadlines, organize case files, and move cases forward efficiently.
• Develop the litigation and trial skills necessary to become an exceptional employee-rights attorney.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Kentucky or eligible for prompt admission.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage cases, deadlines, and competing priorities in a remote environment.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through.
• Ability to listen carefully, show empathy, and build trust with clients facing difficult workplace situations.
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable taking meaningful responsibility for cases.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from and contribute to an experienced litigation team.
• Litigation or employment-law experience is preferred but not required.
• Commitment to advocating for employees and helping people whose workplace rights have been violated.
