Role Description
Samsara is looking to expand its in-house legal roster with an agile litigator able to work across litigation, compliance, and privacy matters. The ideal candidate will enjoy serving as a key contributor on a diverse range of high-stakes litigation and pre-litigation issues, as well as helping to build out processes and procedures for a rapidly growing, global business. The role requires the ability to advise cross-functional teams on litigation strategy and to collaborate and manage outside counsel. You will succeed in this role if you recognize that litigation requires more than a one-size-fits-all approach, and youโre willing and able to adapt your style to meet the nature of the dispute, the parties involved, and business priorities.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US except Alaska, Austin Metro, Boulder Metro, California, Chicago Metro, Connecticut, Dallas Metro, Denver Metro, Houston Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Seattle Metro, and Washington, D.C.
Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

4+ years of litigation experience within a law firm, government agency, or corporate legal department, with a strong preference for prior in-house experience at a technology company.

Highly proactive self-starter with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and complex litigation portfolios simultaneously in a fast-moving, quickly changing environment.

Broad experience handling legal risk, conducting deep legal research, and navigating complex regulatory compliance and data privacy frameworks relevant to commercial disputes.

Direct experience managing commercial disputes, responding to regulatory inquiries, or handling adversarial legal matters from inception through resolution or trial.

Outstanding analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Requirements

Coordinate End-to-End Commercial Litigation Support:
-
Drive all facets of active litigation, including responding to discovery requests, drafting and revising legal briefs, interviewing witnesses, preparing witnesses for testimony, and negotiating and drafting settlements.

Advocate for Customer Data Privacy and Protection Under Applicable Law:
-
Provide counsel and guidance to resolve subpoenas or other legal requests seeking Samsara customer data, and manage litigation of such matters in civil and criminal courts as necessary.

Mitigate Risk & Proactively Resolve Disputes:

Proactively address and resolve potential disputes while providing risk mitigation advice to business clients and supporting business objectives.

Uplevel & Manage the eDiscovery Lifecycle:

Advance Samsaraโs eDiscovery program through automation and AI by establishing defensible discovery guidelines and workflows, evaluate emerging enterprise communication and collaboration platforms to proactively manage data risk, and partner closely with business partners to control external spend and mitigate exposure.

Drive Process Innovation:

Identify systematic legal risks and procedural gaps, designing scalable strategies and leveraging AI or other technology to mitigate risk and improve cross-functional workflows.

Monitor Trends & Deliver Actionable Legal Insights:

Stay current with commercial litigation trends and best practices and provide forward-thinking and actionable advice to key internal stakeholders.

Annual Base Salary: $119,297.50 โ $160,400 USD.
