Nationwide's Management Liability & Specialty (MLS) Legal team is seeking to hire a Counsel role to provide dedicated legal support across a portfolio of complex specialty insurance lines. In this role, you will:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate policy forms and endorsements across management liability and specialty coverages — including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime, Cyber/Tech, Professional Liability, Financial Institutions, Surety, Trade Credit/Credit & Political Risk.
  • Advise underwriters, product managers, and business partners on coverage interpretation, surplus lines and admitted product matters, regulatory compliance, and product development.
  • Collaborate with the Reinsurance and Alternative Risk Transfer group.

This position will be fully remote.

Qualifications

  • JD from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
  • Typically, six or more years of relevant legal experience.
  • Demonstrated business knowledge.

Requirements

  • Associates reporting within Nationwide’s Office of the Chief Legal Officer (OCLO) must be fully licensed in accordance with OCLO policy, in good standing, and in compliance with all continuing legal education requirements at all times in the state(s) in which they practice.
  • Proven experience with or knowledge of an area of law, complex legal practices, and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with associates and business partners.
  • Ability to initiate, prioritize, and coordinate complex projects and/or cases that cross functional or business lines.
  • Decision-making ability to set work priorities and make recommendations.
