Role Description

Jackson LLP is seeking a part-time attorney to support our transactional and corporate practice. This is a remote position. The attorney must be actively barred in California and reside in Illinois.

This is a role for a mid-career attorney with a minimum of four years of post-bar, non-litigation experience. It is well suited to an attorney returning to practice after a career break who is seeking a flexible, part-time role with substantive work and a supportive team.

The attorney will work approximately 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule. There is no billable hour requirement.

Responsibilities

• Draft and review transactional and corporate documents, including contracts, independent contractor agreements, and entity formation materials, in support of the firm’s clients.
• Provide transactional and contracts support on California matters, applying California-specific law where relevant.
• Review and negotiate contract terms on behalf of clients or established practices engaging new personnel.
• Support the firm’s attorneys on day-to-day business and corporate structuring matters for small- to mid-sized healthcare practices and management services organizations.
• Deliver clear, accurate, client-ready work product on agreed timelines.
• Actively engage in continuing education relevant to the firm’s transactional and corporate practice.

About the Attorney Role

• This is a remote, part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week.
• The attorney may work from the firm’s Evanston office but is not required to do so.
• Salary range is $62,500 to $68,500, commensurate with the part-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Actively barred in California, with four or more years of experience as a barred attorney.
• Residing in Illinois.
• Experienced in the preparation and negotiation of contracts.
• Experienced in regulatory and transactional work (not litigation), with a general transactional, corporate, or contracts background.
• Extremely detail-oriented and able to deliver error-free work to clients on tight deadlines.

Interpersonal Skills

• Able to communicate challenging topics clearly and effectively to clients and colleagues.
• Friendly, and well suited to a mutually supportive, non-competitive work environment.
• Able to work independently and manage a part-time workload with minimal oversight.
