[Hiring] Associate Counsel, Employment @AlphaSense

Role Description

This role is remote in the United States, with a preference for the East Coast. The Associate Counsel, Employment, will be a trusted legal advisor on employment and labor-related matters, including but not limited to:

• Employee relations
• Recruiting
• Benefits
• People operations
• Disputes
• Policies
• Other responsibilities

The Associate Counsel, Employment will report to the Senior Counsel, Employment and will partner with all levels and functions of the business, including:

• People
• Information Security
• Sales
• Marketing
• Finance
• Product
• Content

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to, and good standing with a state bar
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience advising clients on employment and labor-related matters either in-house or with a nationally recognized law firm (or a combination of the two)
• Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including:
  • Title VII
  • Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Family and Medical Leave Act
  • Equal Employment Opportunity laws
  • Wage and hour laws
  • Background check laws
  • Benefits laws
  • Immigration
  • Other international, federal, state, and local laws
• Superior business acumen with an unrivaled commitment and deep-seated need to provide responsive client service
• Energetic, authentic, and friendly with a great sense of humor
• Effective communicator, able to interact with internal and external professionals of all types and backgrounds

Requirements

• Provide legal and strategic advice on global employment matters including:
  • Employee relations
  • Terminations
  • Compliance
  • Background screenings
  • Benefits
  • Immigration
  • Recruiting
  • Compensation
  • Other related matters
• Assist in managing employment-related disputes, complaints, litigation, and investigations
• Draft, negotiate, and review employment-related agreements, addenda, and amendments
• Partner with the People team in the development of AlphaSense’s people policies
• Advise on the use of AI technology in employee relations, recruiting/hiring, and other employment processes
• Remain informed of the shifting legal landscape of global employment laws, regulations, and industry guidance
• Help create and enhance playbooks to establish company parameters to scale the legal function as the company grows
• Work effectively in a dynamic environment across different functional groups and time zones

Benefits

• Base Compensation Range: $145,000 - $165,000 USD
