Role Description
ID Logistics is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel, Employment & Labor to join our growing Legal team. Reporting to Corporate Counsel, Risk & Litigation, this role offers a unique opportunity to serve as a trusted legal advisor within a rapidly expanding global third-party logistics organization. The Associate Corporate Counsel will partner closely with Human Resources, Operations, Risk Management, and business leadership to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance across a broad range of employment and labor matters throughout the United States.
This position plays a key role in helping the organization proactively manage workplace risk, ensure compliance with evolving employment laws, support labor relations initiatives, oversee workplace investigations, and manage employment-related claims and litigation. The successful candidate will bring sound legal judgment, strong communication skills, and a collaborative approach to delivering solutions that balance legal risk with business objectives.

Travel Specifics: Up to 20% company paid for travel (once per quarter)

Competitive Compensation: $87,000 - $120,000 per year based on individual experience plus a yearly performance-based bonus, along with comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company matching, generous PTO, sick time, and company holidays.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic legal advisor on employment matters, including hiring, employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, accommodations, leaves of absence, reductions in force, terminations, wage and hour compliance, and workplace policies.

Provide guidance on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, ensuring consistent and legally compliant practices across multiple jurisdictions.

Assist in the development, interpretation, implementation, and maintenance of employment policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and related documentation.

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on legal changes impacting business operations.

Provide counsel on labor law matters, including National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) compliance, concerted activity, handbook reviews, workplace investigations, and union-related issues.

Support labor relations strategies within unionized and union-susceptible environments.

Conduct or oversee internal investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, ethics concerns, workplace conduct, and other employee-related matters.

Partner with HR, Operations, and Risk teams to ensure investigations are thorough, timely, and compliant with legal requirements.

Manage and respond to agency charges, investigations, and inquiries, including matters involving the EEOC, Department of Labor, NLRB, and state employment agencies.

Prepare position statements, coordinate witness interviews, gather evidence, and develop response strategies.

Support employment litigation and claims management, including early case assessments, discovery coordination, settlement evaluations, and litigation strategy.

Manage and maintain organized employment claim tracking and case management reporting.

Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, including separation agreements, confidentiality agreements, and severance documents.

Develop and deliver training programs for managers and HR professionals on employment law and workplace compliance topics.

Support initiatives designed to strengthen compliance, improve workplace practices, and reduce organizational risk.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

2-5 years of experience practicing employment and labor law in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both.

Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, and related regulations.

Experience supporting or conducting workplace investigations and responding to government agency inquiries and charges.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior in-house counsel experience supporting a multi-state employer.

Experience supporting logistics, distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, transportation, or other operationally intensive environments.

Exposure to labor relations matters, including unionized and union-susceptible workforces.

Experience managing employment litigation and administrative agency matters.

Familiarity with workforce compliance programs and risk mitigation initiatives.

Spanish and/or French language proficiency.

Experience delivering employment law training to managers and business leaders.
