[Hiring] Windows / KVM Virtualization Systems Engineer @General Dynamics Information Technology

Role Description

GDIT has an immediate opportunity for a Virtualization Systems Engineer with extensive experience in Kernel-based Virtual Machines (KVM). In this role, you will be an active member of the HIGLAS-HOM Windows Virtualization Team, act as the subject matter expert for KVM, as well as perform installations, upgrades, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, securing, and repair of Windows servers in a VMware environment. The right candidate will work well with a team, exhibit excellent customer service skills at all times, and be self-motivated seeking ways to improve the environment.

• Provide technical knowledge in the areas of system installation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
• Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, and install system-wide software.
• Perform system updates, implement changes in multiple environments from test or development to production.
• Monitor infrastructure, systems operations, and critical application services 24/7.
• Provide information and statistics relevant to system limits on capacity, data storage, system utilization, etc.
• Respond to critical outages and restore services within agreed upon service levels.
• Support Virtualization technology using KVM, VMware vSphere, vCenter, VCF Operations, etc.
• Monitor and administer Operating system and its components (Disks, mount points, Packages, Users, etc.).

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a Computer Science or related technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Kernel-based Virtual Machines (KVM).
• 5+ years of experience in VMware and Windows Engineering.
• Experience developing and interpreting detailed installation instructions and supporting documentation to effect system design deployments.
• Experience with Windows Server 2022 and later, Active Directory, SCCM, SCOM, and Group Policy management.
• Knowledge in managing enterprise server hardware, including firmware upgrades, administration through lights-out management, network configuration, and SAN.

Requirements

• Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.
