[Hiring] Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering @Cloudera

Role Description

The Cloudera IT team is looking for a talented, motivated, and passionate Sr. Manager, Infrastructure Engineering to join our Technical Operations organization. In this role, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for:

• Availability, performance, security, scalability, and lifecycle management of a large on-premises private-cloud environment.
• Operational and engineering outcomes, including 24x7 production support and major-incident leadership.
• Establishing clear priorities and operating mechanisms for senior engineers.
• Serving as the primary program coordinator for infrastructure initiatives across various teams.

As a Sr. Manager, Infrastructure Engineering you will:

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of senior infrastructure, platform operations, and DevOps engineers.
• Establish team priorities, ownership, performance expectations, career-development plans, and sustainable on-call practices.
• Own the availability, performance, capacity, security, and lifecycle of the private-cloud environment.
• Oversee 24x7 production operations, major-incident response, and stakeholder communication.
• Lead cross-functional infrastructure programs involving various teams and external vendors.
• Develop integrated project plans, manage dependencies and risks, and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Monitor ServiceNow incident, request, problem, and change queues; establish processes for assignment and prioritization.
• Build dashboards and continual-improvement plans to enhance service quality.
• Advance infrastructure-as-code, automation, and repeatable deployment practices.
• Direct capacity planning, platform upgrades, and technical-debt reduction.
• Partner with engineering and architecture leaders to define platform roadmaps and service-level objectives.
• Use operational data to prioritize investments and improve service reliability.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading infrastructure engineering, platform operations, cloud operations, DevOps, or site-reliability teams in a large production environment.
• Demonstrated success managing and developing senior technical professionals.
• Experience owning business-critical services and major-incident response.
• Strong program-management skills with experience coordinating multiple interdependent initiatives.
• Experience implementing operational processes for incident, request, problem, and change management.
• Experience using ServiceNow or a comparable enterprise ITSM platform.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, and comparable private-cloud technologies.
• Ability to evaluate technical architecture and operational risk without acting as the team’s primary hands-on engineer.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Requirements

• Experience operating OpenStack and Kubernetes platforms at enterprise scale.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with Terraform, configuration-management tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience defining service-level indicators and reliability metrics.
• Experience with capacity forecasting and vendor management.
• Familiarity with ITIL service-management practices and certifications.
• Relevant technical certifications in Kubernetes, OpenStack, Linux, Terraform, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
