[Hiring] Senior Mainframe DB2 DBA Support, Systems Administration @Kyndryl

Role Description

As a Senior Mainframe DB2 DBA and Systems Administrator, you will install, maintain, and upgrade internal IT hardware and software infrastructure used for product design and development, while managing user access control and system security.

Responsibilities

• Administer, install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 for z/OS database environments.
• Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity, executing regular backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Manage database objects, review designs, tune SQL queries, and assist application teams with database troubleshooting.
• Analyze and resolve database incidents, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and maintain access controls and database security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional mainframe teams, manage ITIL-based changes, ensure audit compliance, and maintain operational documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotations and weekend support while driving task automation, service improvements, and junior team mentorship.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supporting IBM DB2 for z/OS environments with strong knowledge of z/OS operating system fundamentals.
• In-depth understanding of DB2 database architecture, administration, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts.
• Practical experience running core DB2 utilities including REORG, RUNSTATS, COPY, RECOVER, LOAD, UNLOAD, and CHECK utilities.
• Proven ability to analyze and tune SQL, monitor database performance, and troubleshoot production issues using logs, traces, and dumps.
• Hands-on experience with incident, problem, and change management processes.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise mainframe environments, DB2 Data Sharing architecture, and version migrations or upgrades.
• Hands-on experience with performance monitoring tools like IBM OMEGAMON or Query Monitor, as well as capacity planning and SQL tuning.
• Knowledge of RACF security administration concepts, automated scripting, and disaster recovery planning.
• Proven track record working in globally distributed support teams following structured ITIL operational processes.
