Role Description

The Senior Linux System Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, performance, and availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server environments supporting Bell Canada. The role manages server patching, updates, upgrades, performance tuning, security hardening, vulnerability management, infrastructure changes, system monitoring, incident response, and automation. The position also participates in disaster recovery and business continuity activities and provides after-hours on-call support as required to maintain reliable and resilient server operations.

As part of a global IT team, the Senior Linux System Administrator collaborates with network, database, application, and other technology teams to resolve complex infrastructure issues, support system integration, and improve operational efficiency through scripting, automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and effective technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
• Relevant Red Hat certifications, such as:
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform certifications
• Other certifications related to:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration
  • Automation
  • OpenStack
  • Enterprise Linux infrastructure management
• Additional certifications in the following areas are considered an advantage:
  • VMware virtualization technologies
  • ITIL

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Linux Server Administration, with a strong focus on managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
• At least 5 years of experience with enterprise virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, and Red Hat OpenStack, covering deployment, administration, performance tuning, and operational support.
• Proven experience in scripting and automation using Python, Ansible, and Bash, applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management practices to automate server provisioning, patching, configuration deployment, monitoring, and routine operational activities across enterprise Linux platforms.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and network troubleshooting within enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting and administering both modern and legacy Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Linux server platforms, maintaining system availability, stability, security, and performance across diverse enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex server, virtualization, and network-related issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance when required.
• Experience working in 24/7 enterprise production environments, supporting critical business applications and infrastructure while adhering to operational and change management processes.
