Role Description

The Epic Web and Service Server Engineer will contribute to developing and applying their technical expertise on the Epic technical team that supports Epic technical infrastructure. This includes technologies, systems, networks, data architectures, capacity planning, system performance, and configuration management.

• Responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, installing, and/or deploying Epic technologies.
• Establishment, development, and promotion of Epic architecture, as well as hardware and software components.
• Provides consulting services to the Epic application development teams and/or customers regarding technologies and the application of Epic technology standards.

Responsibilities

• Administrative: Complete time management, status reports and task updates as required by management.
• Policies/Procedures: Adheres to IS Processes and follows the Health Care System Policies and Procedures.
• Project Management:

• Development/Support:
  • Install, manage, and configure the Epic application deployment platforms that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs.
  • Install and maintain the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of the Epic system.
  • Apply platform and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production Web server components.
  • Assist in the configuration and troubleshooting of integrated third-party software and peripherals.
  • Follow vendor and Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration.
  • Create and update documentation and maintain current system details in a centralized knowledge base.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and Epic to ensure proactive support.
  • Maintain knowledge and testing processes for supporting outstanding issues and tasks such as supporting Business Continuity, retooling emerging technologies, capacity planning, and other Epic application maintenance requirements.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of direct Epic ECSA experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in information technology with progressive responsibilities.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Three (3) years of progressive responsibilities/experience in one or a combination of the following areas: Web Services, Server Administrator, Systems Engineer, Network Administration.
• Understanding of operating system concepts such as user and group ownership and file permissions, file system/volume group configuration, etc.
• Knowledge of PowerShell.
• Ability to create, understand, and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance.
• Able to exercise independent judgment and take action.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

• Familiar with HIPAA and other regulations that impact hospitals and clinics.
• Experience with Hyperspace Web Networking Interconnect System, Pulse Business Continuity, Access EPS System, Performance Analytics, My Chart, Care Everywhere, EpicCare Link, Hyperspace Client, Capacity Management, Scripting/Programming, VMware, Citrix, Windows Server Management.

Requirements

• High School education required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Current Epic ECSA Certification or certification gained within 6 months of employment.
• One or more Third Party Certifications or certification gained within 6 months of employment.
• Microsoft MCSA, Microsoft MCP, Microsoft MCTS, Citrix CCA-V, Citrix CCA-N, VMware VCP-DCV, VMware VCP-DTM, CompTIA Server+ preferred.
