Role Description

This position is responsible for advanced technical work in all phases of database administration support, including:

• Provides Operations support for SQL Database and Database Server administration support for critical production systems.
• Ensures overall health and availability and quality of services.
• Performs Health Checks to review the performance of databases and provides recommendations to enhance performance.
• Performs migration and upgrade of SQL Databases from legacy server/SQL Version to new server/SQL Version.
• Performs data migration by designing programs to optimally extract, cleanse, transform, and load data.
• Deploying SQL database solutions within Azure.
• Securing Azure SQL resources and data.
• Provides Database Design support.
• Defines, develops, and creates databases by assessing requirements.
• Meets with developers and vendors to ascertain requirements and provide consulting assistance.
• Deploys and maintains database schema changes across test and production environments.
• Provides technical support for the PSP Data Warehouse, Data Marts, and Power BI environments.
• Deploys, configures, secures, backs up, and maintains Azure SQL database solutions.
• Integrates Azure SQL resources with other Azure services.
• Monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes Azure SQL and SQL Server Database performance and availability.
• Supports the migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to Azure SQL.
• Designs, develops, and maintains logical and physical database models.
• Develops and maintains database structures to ensure data integrity and efficiency.
• Collaborates with developers, business stakeholders, and vendors to gather requirements.
• Coordinates database backup and restore requests with the backup administration team.
• Engages in ongoing process improvement.
• Knowledgeable in data analysis and database management techniques.
• Executes responsibilities with little direct supervision.
• Determines time estimates and schedules for own work.
• Identifies and tracks issues, risks, and action items.
• Coordinates with vendors and service providers to resolve technical support issues.
• Assists in coordinating software releases.
• Manages and provides status updates on all work activities.
• Follows database standards.
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Completes assigned tasks.

Qualifications

• SQL Server Database Administration experience: Required - 7 years
• Data Analytics experience: Required - 3 years
• Azure Database Administration experience: Required - 1 year
• Data Warehouse experience: Required - 1 year
• Business systems analysis and design experience: Desired
• Worked in Database Administration on Production Servers: Required - 4 years
• Excellent Communication Skills: Required
• Provides high quality and professional customer service: Required
• Microsoft SQL (HA / Always On): Desired
• Power BI Administration: Highly Desired
