Role Description

Everforth ECS is seeking a Cloud Email Engineer, Lead to support a federal civilian agency's Microsoft 365 and Power Platform operations, modernization, and cloud engineering program in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Email Engineer, Lead to manage and support our hybrid email infrastructure. This role is critical to maintaining secure, reliable email services across Exchange Online and on-premises environments, ensuring seamless mail flow and system availability for our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Support & System Management
  • Provide day-to-day operations and maintenance (O&M) support for Exchange Online and Exchange On-Premises environments.
  • Ensure high availability, optimal performance, and reliable mail flow across all email platforms.
  • Monitor system health, audit logs, and security alerts to proactively identify and resolve issues affecting email delivery and security operations.
• Hybrid Environment Administration
  • Manage and maintain hybrid email environments, including Exchange Online and Exchange on-premises servers.
  • Oversee email routing configurations and mailbox storage across cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Coordinate integration between Exchange systems, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure AD).
• Incident Response & Troubleshooting
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for email disruptions, outages, and service degradation.
  • Perform rapid incident response and service restoration to minimize business impact.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Security & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain security controls to protect email infrastructure and data.
  • Apply updates, patches, and configuration changes in accordance with security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain Exchange service integrity through regular security assessments and remediation.
• Business Continuity
  • Support backup, recovery, and business continuity planning for email services.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery procedures for both cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Document recovery processes and maintain up-to-date system documentation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange administration.
• Proven expertise in Exchange Online and Exchange On-Premises environments.
• Strong experience managing hybrid Exchange deployments.
• Deep understanding of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra integration.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex email infrastructure issues.
• Experience with email security, compliance, and backup/recovery solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Salary Range: $160,000 - $175,000.
