Role Description

The Senior Vice President (SVP), KF People & Ops is the senior leader responsible for the talent systems, norms, and operating practices that underpin a best-in-class performance culture at the KIPP Foundation. This role involves:

  • Designing and running systems that embed high performance into hiring, developing, evaluating, and rewarding staff.
  • Leading KF operations and Network event functions for smooth planning and execution of Network convenings.
  • Overseeing three teams: KF Talent, Event Operations, and two Senior Directors of KF Operations.
  • Ensuring alignment of talent & culture, Network events, and organizational operations with KIPP’s strategic priorities.
  • Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and shaping how the KIPP Foundation operates.

Responsibilities

  • Set Organizational Vision and Strategy for Talent & Operations:
    • Define and lead a cohesive strategy for KF culture, talent, and operations.
    • Drive a performance culture through talent systems and growth and development work.
    • Monitor organizational health indicators and drive improvements based on data and feedback.
    • Serve as a thought partner to the COO and Leadership Team on organizational effectiveness.
    • Steward KIPP Foundation culture to ensure high-quality talent is hired and retained.
    • Manage and oversee KF Ops work through two Senior Directors.
  • Executive Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead, coach, and develop team members to ensure clear vision and goal attainment.
    • Build a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure alignment across KF Talent, KF Ops, and Event Operations workstreams.
  • Personnel Leadership, Risk Management, and Escalations:
    • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex or high-risk personnel issues.
    • Exercise sound judgment on complex people matters and escalate when necessary.
    • Identify systemic people risks and proactively address them.
  • Change Leadership and Enterprise Execution:
    • Serve as the primary leader for major KF shifts, ensuring change is well-sequenced and communicated.
    • Anticipate risks and remove barriers to execution across teams.
    • Represent teams in executive decision-making forums.

Qualifications

  • Experience and Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
    • 12+ years of experience in a complex organization, with at least 10+ years in Talent and/or Operations.
    • Proven track record of overseeing multiple functions and senior leaders.
    • Strong experience operating as a senior partner to executive leadership.

Additional Information

  • Travel requirements: High Travel: 21-30% (40-60 days per year).
  • Job Type: full-time exempt.
  • Location: Preferred but not mandatory to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office; option for remote work.
  • Salary range for this position: $249,600-$295,000.
