Role Description

We are building a next-generation digital banking platform for one of Africa's largest financial institutions—a product built to serve 15 million users at launch, scaling to hundreds of millions across the continent and diaspora.

As a Senior Technical Recruiter , you will own technical recruitment end-to-end, from sourcing and screening through technical assessment, interviewing, reference checks, compensation benchmarking, and candidate presentation. You will recruit across product, engineering, platform, security, and QA , ensuring hiring managers receive a small number of thoroughly assessed, decision-ready candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full recruitment lifecycle from job briefing through to signed offer.
• Proactively source candidates through LinkedIn, technical communities, referral networks, and other relevant channels.
• Screen candidates thoroughly against role requirements before presenting them to hiring managers.
• Manage candidate communication and experience throughout the recruitment process.
• Conduct structured competency interviews assessing technical depth and behavioural fit.
• Coordinate and interpret technical assessments, working with engineering leads where specialist expertise is required.
• Verify candidate credentials, certifications, and employment history.
• Conduct or coordinate reference checks before final shortlisting.
• Prepare concise, decision-ready shortlists covering candidate fit, technical assessment outcomes, strengths, gaps, compensation expectations, availability, and recommendation.
• Benchmark compensation against current market rates and advise on offer strategy.
• Track technical talent and compensation trends across Nigeria and the broader African technology market.
• Maintain accurate candidate records and recruitment pipelines within the applicant tracking system.
• Monitor recruitment metrics, including pipeline health, time-to-shortlist, offer acceptance rates, and source effectiveness.
• Identify recruitment bottlenecks and implement improvements.
• Build and maintain relationships with specialist recruitment agencies where required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical recruitment experience, with a track record of filling senior engineering and technology roles.
• Demonstrated ability to assess technical candidates credibly across engineering disciplines.
• Experience independently managing the full recruitment lifecycle from sourcing through to offer.
• Strong structured interviewing skills with an evidence-based approach to candidate assessment.
• Proven ability to produce concise, well-reasoned, and genuinely pre-vetted shortlists.
• Experience recruiting across multiple technical disciplines simultaneously.
• Proficiency with an applicant tracking system and disciplined pipeline management.

Nice to Have

• Experience recruiting across product, engineering, QA, design, and security.
• Familiarity with the Nigerian and broader African technical talent market.
• Experience recruiting both permanent and contract/consulting talent, including rate benchmarking.
• Experience working within early-stage or high-growth technology programmes.
• HR or talent operations certification.

• Experience with Breezy HR or an equivalent applicant tracking system.
