Role Description

Max Retail is looking for a People Ops Manager who has experience in building systems, programs, and culture to support team growth. This role involves owning People Ops end-to-end, including:

• Designing career frameworks
• Running performance cycles
• Launching L&D programs
• Coaching managers

Key responsibilities include:

• Builder First: Writing the playbook for HR infrastructure.
• L&D Champion: Designing impactful learning programs.
• Trusted Partner: Handling employee concerns and leader problems with discretion.
• Systems Thinker: Creating sustainable processes.
• Coach, Not Enforcer: Building manager capability through relationships.
• High EQ, High Output: Balancing sensitive conversations with leadership presentations.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in People Ops, HR Business Partner, or a closely comparable role.
• Proven track record building HR infrastructure from scratch.
• Experience designing and running Learning & Development initiatives.
• Comfortable operating as the sole People Ops presence.
• Lattice-Fluent: Hands-on experience with the tool.
• HR infrastructure design experience.
• Learning & Development expertise.
• Employee relations skills.
• Manager coaching and facilitation experience.
• PEO familiarity with onboarding and compliance workflows.
• HR systems audit and tooling evaluation skills.
• Executive reporting capabilities.

Requirements

• Background in e-commerce, retail tech, or fast-moving consumer businesses.
• Experience partnering with founders or small leadership teams.
• Prior fractional, embedded, or consulting experience.
