Role Description

Reporting to the Director, HR Compliance, the Manager, HR Compliance – Central Investigations is responsible for independently managing complex and sensitive workplace investigations and supporting the consistent and effective delivery of Loblaw’s Integrity Action Line (IAL) investigation program.

• Independently lead complex and sensitive workplace investigations, including Integrity Action Line matters.
• Conduct complainant, witness and respondent interviews; review and assess documentary, system and other relevant evidence.
• Exercise sound and independent judgment throughout the investigation process.
• Develop clear, practical and well-reasoned recommendations based on investigation findings.
• Independently manage assigned casework from intake through closure.
• Manage multiple complex and sensitive investigations simultaneously.
• Partner with HR, Legal, Compliance & Ethics, Labour Relations and other stakeholders.
• Build trusted relationships with HR and business partners.
• Maintain objectivity and composure when dealing with sensitive matters.
• Identify significant or recurring observations to support broader review and analysis.
• Contribute to consistent investigation practices across the Central Investigations team.
• Share knowledge and expertise across the HR Compliance team.
• Lead or contribute to ad hoc HR Compliance projects and initiatives.
• Partner with HR and cross-functional stakeholders on time-sensitive projects.
• Support HR compliance activities, including payroll-related investigations.
• Use available technology and case-management tools to support investigation efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to improve investigation processes and contribute to practical improvements.
• Actively contribute to HR compliance risk management and mitigation initiatives.
• Demonstrate leadership through personal accountability and sound judgment.

Qualifications

• University degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5–7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources or a related field.
• Strong workplace investigation experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex and sensitive workplace matters.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership behaviours, including accountability and curiosity.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
• Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
