Role Description

The Executive Talent Acquisition Director will lead executive search strategy and execution for IonQ’s most business-critical leadership hires. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional executive talent, building a scalable internal executive recruiting capability, and reducing reliance on external search firms over time.

The successful candidate will operate as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, supporting leadership hiring decisions that directly influence the structure and performance of the business. This individual will combine executive search expertise, strong judgement, and disciplined execution to translate business priorities into high-quality leadership outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead executive search strategy and execution for VP+ and other mission-critical leadership hires.
• Partner closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board stakeholders on search priorities, candidate calibration, and hiring decisions.
• Build and establish IonQ’s executive recruiting model, including search practices, processes, tools, and reporting.
• Develop and maintain a high-quality pipeline of executive talent, including long-term engagement.
• Use data, market insight, and technology to improve search quality, pace, and decision making, while informing succession planning and long-range talent strategy.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition, including significant executive search experience.
• Proven success delivering complex executive hires for innovative, category-defining, or technically sophisticated businesses.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and advise C-level stakeholders.
• Experience building or transforming executive recruiting capability, infrastructure, and search practices.
• Global hiring experience, including international search and relocation.

Location

This position can work onsite or hybrid from one of our offices (College Park, MD, Bothell, WA) or fully remote in the US.

Travel

Up to 10%.

Compensation

The approximate base salary range for this position is $147,712 - $192,621. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity. Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
