Role Description

Reporting to the Manager, Workforce Planning and HR Data Analytics, the HR Systems and Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing Human Resource data to identify trends and opportunities for improvements. In this position you will exercise your strong working knowledge of Human Resource operational procedures as well as your expertise in quality management, lean, and data processing.

  • Works with all levels of HR staff in assessing needs for various business functions.
  • Assists HR Leaders and staff in identifying and analyzing options and recommends business process enhancements.
  • Assists team members in identifying and developing reports needed by the department and users of HR information.
  • Leads and facilitates the rolling out and testing of new systems and upgrades and coordinates implementation with team members.
  • Works with Leaders and other HR Systems & Reporting staff to develop training plans and training documents, process design, and best practices for systems users.
  • Ensures integrity of HR Systems data and facilitates accurate reporting by developing and implementing data auditing systems/processes and conducting audits on system data.
  • Develops, designs, and prepares reports and analyses and presentations.
  • Represents team in internal and external meetings and committees.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' related experience in data analysis and data quality management.
  • Experience with querying tools (e.g. SQL, PeopleSoft, Access, Excel) and analysis tools (e.g. Tableau, SSRS, SPSS, Python, R).
  • Ability to write queries in SQL to extract data from relational databases.
  • Strong statistical skills to analyze data and information.
  • Strong knowledge of data quality processes.
  • Strong facilitation and education skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to produce fast data analysis responses to ad hoc questions from various HR stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather, summarize, and report information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to gather requirements from various user groups and translate those requirements into technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures related to HR systems and data quality.
  • Ability to foster collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to teach, coach, and mentor others.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to plan, organize, problem-solve, prioritize work, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Requirements

  • Analyze Human Resource data to identify trends and opportunities for improvements.
  • Lead the Data Steward Committee and work with HR staff/Data Stewards in gathering information and assessing needs for various business functions.
  • Facilitate working group/working team meetings (e.g., Sprint Meetings) and assist team in translating this information into work requests for applicable technical teams.
  • Assist users with issues related to the use of HR systems by troubleshooting issues, identifying options, and tracking/documenting issues.
  • Work with Leader, Data Stewards, and other HR Systems & Reporting staff to develop training plans and training documents for systems users.
  • Design and develop complex reports as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy and relevance of data reported.
  • Lead the rolling out and testing of new systems and upgrades.
  • Ensure integrity of HR Systems data by developing and implementing data auditing systems/tools/processes.
  • Perform and/or coordinate random and scheduled audits on system data.
  • Review trends in data errors, provide recommendations, and develop best practices to reduce data errors.
  • Build effective relationships with HRIS Shared Services, Sustainment, Decision Support, and relevant personnel.
  • Represent HR in regular HRIS Shared Services and Sustainment meetings.
  • Keep abreast of current best practices related to HR systems and related technologies.
