Role Description

The Human Resources Business Partner II is responsible for providing Associate Relations support and partnering with assigned business units in the areas of performance management, talent management, organizational planning, employment policies, and associate relations. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Aligning HR policies and strategy delivery with organizational objectives.
  • Promoting companywide best practices and consistency.
  • Collaborating with leaders to diagnose current and future HR needs.
  • Providing information analytics to leaders.
  • Leading investigations and conducting investigational interviews.
  • Completing case documentation in a timely manner.
  • Providing consultative advice to leaders and associates.
  • Conducting in-person exit interviews.
  • Working with legal counsel to defend employment litigation.
  • Monitoring and managing associate performance metrics and attendance.
  • Handling highly confidential cases, assignments, and projects.

This position can work remotely in any of the 40+ states in which TDS Telecom operates.

Responsibilities

  • Associate Relations Cases:
    • Investigates, recommends, and resolves associate issues for policy or internal process violations.
    • Conducts investigational interviews with associates and witnesses.
    • Completes case documentation such as interview transcripts and timelines.
    • Works with legal counsel on legal claims as necessary.
  • Administers Performance Metrics and Attendance Guidelines:
    • Monitors and manages associate performance metrics and absenteeism.
    • Reviews and analyzes attendance tracking.
  • Manages Associate Medical Accommodation Requests:
    • Works closely with associates and health care providers to determine potential accommodations.
  • Proactively Partners with Departmental Leaders:
    • Diagnoses current and future HR needs.
    • Gathers and provides information analytics to leaders.
    • Communicates important deadline dates to leaders and associates.
  • Conducts In-Person Exit Interviews:
    • Understands why associates are leaving and develops potential retention solutions.
  • Facilitates Business Unit Reorganizational Efforts:
    • Works with leaders to determine selection criteria and communicates impacts to associates.
  • May Administer Additional Functions:
    • Associate Handbook Administration.
    • Legal Posting Requirements Process.
    • State-Specific Legal Training Requirements.
    • Unemployment Compensation.
    • Labor Relations.
    • Compliance Training Management.
    • Performance Management/Successbuilder.
    • Facilitating Civil Treatment for Managers (CTM).
    • Managing the Company’s Safety program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 1+ years' experience in Human Resources.
  • 1+ year experience handling associate relations situations.

Requirements

  • Pursuing ongoing professional development in Human Resources.
  • SHRM Certification a plus.
  • Attainment of Civil Treatment Certification within first two months.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource policies and laws.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
