Role Description

Greystar’s mission is to enrich the lives we touch by doing things the right way. We are looking for a talented Director to provide outstanding Employee Relations and Human Resources support to our leaders and team members. This remote position supports part of the East Region’s business and team members by delivering on the core practices of ER and HR and guiding managers and leaders to address and resolve complex employee relations issues.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in executing the Company’s strategies, initiatives, and programs that create a high-performance culture.
  • Develop and implement best consultative practices in executive coaching, enhancing leader capability, and performance management.
  • Provide strategic guidance around ER activities to mitigate risk and optimize resources.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with business leaders, Director peers, and Senior Director to manage complicated employee relations issues, resolve employee complaints, and complete a variety of HR generalist initiatives.
  • Serve as the strategic consultant for the organization’s activities and processes for employee relations, retention, and compliance.
  • Ensure that the organization’s employment practices are in compliance with Greystar’s policies and procedures, and guide employee relations activities to assist leaders, managers, and team members in resolving issues.
  • Provide appropriate coaching and development feedback to managers and employees.
  • Provide rigorous data analysis and reporting solutions based on business needs.
  • Integrate and partner with ER peers and Regional ER Director to implement consistent, best-in-class solutions.
  • Work with the business on highlighting key trends in employee relations case law and actively driving training, systems, and process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of increasingly responsible Human Resources experience, culminating in a Director-level role; multi-unit and multi-state experience essential.
  • HR certification strongly preferred.
  • Significant experience with complex, multi-state employee relations issues.
  • Ability to work with diverse people with tact, respect, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, deals well with ambiguity and does not require positional authority to get things done in a high-performance culture.
  • Compassion for colleagues and subordinates and able to sustain collegiality and team orientation; ability to influence change and build consensus for ideas and recommendations that move teams and initiatives forward.
  • Absolute and unquestioned integrity and confidentiality.
  • Passionate and proactive about solving problems, adding value and delivering superior results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable communicator with superb written and verbal skills; able to articulate ideas, thoughts, and questions clearly and appropriately through written and verbal communication; multi-lingual a plus.
  • Excellent judgment, understands what they do not know and what questions to ask to reach well-informed decisions that minimize risk.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word skills.
  • Experience using HR metrics for action planning.
  • Experience with Workday a plus.

Requirements

  • Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.
  • In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in a quarterly or annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.
  • For onsite team members, onsite housing discount at Greystar-managed communities are available subject to discount and unit availability.
  • 6-Week Paid Sabbatical after 10 years of service (and every 5 years thereafter).
