Role Description

The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Benefits and Eligibility Supervisor for the Maricopa 1 Customer Care Center. This position supervises, plans and coordinates the operations of a program of one or more benefits and eligibility units involved in the determination and issuance of public assistance and/or social service benefits. Responsibilities include:

• Effective supervision and administration of the division's eligibility program(s) staff.
• Staff development and training, succession planning, performance management, and related activities.
• Working with other managers and staff to evaluate and implement goals, responsibilities, policies, and procedures of the division.
• Potential remote work within Arizona based on business needs and performance measures.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent education.
• Two years’ experience performing eligibility work.

Requirements

• Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and adjust workloads.
• Interpret and clarify program policies and procedures for staff.
• Assist staff with difficult and complex cases.
• Prioritize and assign work to maintain compliance with federal, state, and mandates.
• Conduct quality control and error management in eligibility services program(s).
• Compile and review statistical data associated with unit activities.
• Evaluate staffing needs and participate on hiring panels.
• Assist with identifying suspected fraud cases and represent the agency in hearings and court appeals.
