Role Description

We're looking for a proactive, detail-obsessed HR professional who brings ideas to the table and sees them through to completion. As a key member of our lean HR team, you will be a trusted resource for employees across the organization - driving day-to-day operations, identifying process gaps, and partnering on strategic initiatives spanning compliance, employee experience, and talent acquisition. This role is built for someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do.

  • Employee Experience & Communications
    • Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries - providing timely, accurate, and friendly responses that reflect the company's culture and values.
    • Own the quarterly employee perks calendar from end to end: researching vendors, sourcing new engagement ideas, and evaluating ROI in a remote-first environment.
    • Draft and publish weekly HR emails, biweekly wellness content, developing a consistent, compelling HR voice.
    • Support with HR culture & engagement initiatives and events, from coordination to execution.
  • Onboarding & Talent Operations
    • Own the full new hire onboarding lifecycle: paperwork collection and processing, background and reference check coordination, Form I-9 administration, and IT equipment and access setup.
    • Manage and continuously improve the recruiting coordination function - scheduling interviews, maintaining job postings, and serving as an ATS (Greenhouse) power user.
    • Identify onboarding friction points, propose scalable solutions proactively and own the implementation.
  • Payroll, Benefits & Compliance
    • Support bi-payroll processing - auditing timecards, ensuring approvals are complete, and processing 401(k) deferrals accurately and on time.
    • Own quarterly state filings, proactively monitoring new state and federal compliance requirements and escalating issues appropriately.
    • Manage the virtual mailroom - triaging incoming notices, escalating actionable items, and responding within established SLAs.
  • HRIS, Data & Systems
    • Serve as an HRIS owner: processing new hires, terminations, and all employee changes accurately and within compliance timelines.
    • Conduct regular audits of the HRIS and benefits portals to ensure data integrity and catch discrepancies before they become problems.
    • Maintain electronic employee files in compliance with local and federal regulations.
    • Proactively surface process improvement opportunities - bringing forward concrete recommendations to better leverage technology and help the HR team scale.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams simultaneously, you know how to stay organized and close every loop.
  • Minimum of 3 years of HR experience spanning at least two functional areas (e.g. operations, compliance, employee experience, and talent).
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels with professionalism and clarity.
  • A genuine passion for accuracy, data hygiene, and using HR analytics to surface trends and drive decisions – not just maintain records.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS, payroll and benefits platforms. Comfortable navigating an ATS (Greenhouse a plus) and a genuine enthusiasm for HR tech.
  • Ownership mindset – you don’t wait to be asked. You spot a gap, flag it, and come up with a proposed solution. You follow through on every commitment.
  • Thrives in ambiguity. Equally comfortable working independently and collaborating closely with a small, fast-moving team that wears many hats.
