Role Description
The Vice President of Asset Management reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for maximizing the long-term performance and financial returns of the companyβs operating renewable energy portfolio. This leader oversees third-party O&M provider management, revenue optimization, operating cost control, and all third-party reporting obligations including to lenders, tax equity investors, and offtakers. Working at the intersection of technical operations and commercial performance, the VP Asset Management ensures the portfolio delivers against its underwritten production, revenue, and availability targets throughout the asset life.
Responsibilities

Portfolio Performance & O&M Oversight

Oversee portfolio-wide energy production, availability, and performance ratio metrics against underwritten baselines.

Manage third-party O&M service provider relationships, including performance accountability, SLA enforcement, and contract compliance.

Direct corrective and preventive maintenance planning, outage coordination, and equipment reliability programs.

Implement remote monitoring and SCADA-driven performance analytics to proactively identify and remediate underperformance.

Lead annual O&M budget development and cost control initiatives across the operating fleet.

Revenue Optimization & Commercial Management

Oversee PPA contract compliance and revenue metering, billing, and settlement processes.

Lead battery storage dispatch optimization and revenue stacking strategies (energy arbitrage, capacity, ancillary services).

Manage curtailment tracking, dispute resolution with utilities/ISOs, and curtailment mitigation strategies.

Identify and pursue grid services participation opportunities including frequency regulation, spinning reserves, and demand response.

Coordinate with development and finance teams on merchant revenue management and hedging strategies for uncontracted assets.

Financial Management & Reporting
-
Own operating expense budgets and manage cost reduction initiatives across the portfolio.

Prepare and deliver comprehensive reporting packages to project lenders, tax equity partners, and offtakers per contractual requirements.

Ensure compliance with lender covenant requirements including DSCR maintenance, insurance obligations, and reserve accounts.

Oversee warranty management, insurance claim processes, and major maintenance reserve planning.

Support tax equity and financing partner diligence requests and annual audits.

Asset Transitions & Lifecycle Management

Manage construction-to-operations handoff, ensuring receipt of as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and warranty registrations.

Lead asset management planning for repowering, equipment upgrades, and life extension initiatives.

Oversee decommissioning planning and bond/security obligation compliance where applicable.

Support M&A diligence on potential portfolio acquisitions, providing technical and operational assessments.

Regulatory & Compliance
-
Ensure compliance with NERC reliability standards, FERC reporting requirements, and applicable utility tariffs.

Manage property tax assessment appeals and real estate obligation compliance.
-
Oversee environmental compliance obligations (SPCC, stormwater, wildlife agency commitments) for operating assets.

Coordinate with legal team on regulatory filings, interconnection agreement compliance, and permit renewals.

Data Management & Technology
-
Direct asset management information systems, performance databases, and reporting platforms.
-
Drive adoption of predictive analytics and machine learning tools for performance forecasting and maintenance optimization.

Ensure data integrity across metering, SCADA, and financial reporting systems.
Qualifications
-
12+ years of experience in renewable energy operations, asset management, or power project management.
-
5+ years in a senior asset management role with direct responsibility for operating portfolios exceeding 500 MW.

Demonstrated track record managing third-party O&M providers and project-level financial reporting.

Direct experience with project finance structures, lender reporting obligations, and tax equity partnership requirements.

Deep understanding of solar PV and BESS performance metrics, degradation modeling, and operational benchmarking.

Expertise in power market operations, ISO settlement processes, and ancillary service markets.
-
Working knowledge of SCADA systems, asset management platforms (e.g., PowerFactors, Greenbyte, Locus Energy), and PI historians.

Proficiency in financial modeling, budget management, and operating performance reporting.

Bachelorβs degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field required.
-
MBA or advanced technical degree strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
-
BESS operations and dispatch optimization experience in ISO/RTO markets.
-
NERC compliance and utility-scale generation operations background.
-
Experience managing portfolios across multiple ISO/RTO markets (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, etc.).

CFA, CPA, or PE licensure.
