[Hiring] Underwriting Consultant @Intact Specialty Solutions

Role Description

We currently have an opportunity for an Underwriting Consultant to join our Excess & Surplus team based remotely in the United States. The E&S Casualty Underwriting Consultant will partner with Intact appointed wholesale brokers to profitably grow a book of new and renewal E&S Casualty Primary & Supported Excess business. In this role, underwriters will be responsible for:

• Identifying and developing opportunities for profitable new and renewal Primary Casualty and Supported Excess business within the company's E&S Casualty appetite.
• Managing a portfolio of small to mid-size accounts while executing portfolio strategies and meeting financial performance objectives.
• Demonstrating a strong understanding of exposures and key coverages, as well as jurisdictional and regulatory nuances of the E&S market.
• Making underwriting decisions to accept, decline, or modify risks within the underwriter’s authority levels.
• Partnering with wholesale brokers to understand their clients' needs and clearly communicate the company's E&S Casualty appetite.
• Maintaining an active presence with key wholesale broker partners through regular communication, meetings, and market visits.
• Staying current on E&S Casualty market conditions, competitor activity, coverage developments, and regulatory and legal trends.
• Helping shape underwriting strategy and guidelines while serving as mentor and coach to less experienced underwriters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 7-10 years of progressively more complex, specialty lines underwriting experience.
• Professional insurance designation is preferred (AICPCU, RPLU).
