Role Description

The primary responsibilities of the Team Lead, Portfolio Management include:

• Leading a team of Portfolio Managers in communicating and working with both internal and external customers.
• Ensuring diligence in servicing customer requests through assessment of relevant facts, collection and review of borrower financial records, and evaluation of the loan file for completeness.
• Proactively monitoring the portfolio to ensure credit risks are timely identified with suggested corrective action and potential change to the bank’s internal risk rating.
• Identifying potential new revenue opportunities.
• Performing critical job duties consistent with regulatory guidance, the SBA’s standard operating procedures, and Bank loan policy.
• Working with credit teams to supervise the bank’s commercial and SBA loan portfolio.
• Identifying, monitoring, and handling problem credits, and enforcing loan and credit documents.
• Assisting with identifying and occasionally negotiating workout solutions to mitigate credit risks.
• Managing the day-to-day operations of the SBA Portfolio Managers, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and serving as a liaison between management and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Management and day-to-day supervision of the SBA and Portfolio Management Team.
• Assuring that the staff is fully trained and that ongoing training opportunities are offered.
• Managing a portfolio of existing credit relationships ensuring credit quality and adherence to Bank loan policy.
• Completing and documenting loan reviews on a quarterly basis for all loans in the portfolio.
• Preparing internal documentation to memorialize material changes to the loan since approval.
• Demonstrating strong expertise in structuring and negotiating loan agreements.
• Overseeing credit department loan presentations or quarterly reviews.
• Responding to customer inquiries, credit requests, or servicing requests in a timely manner.
• Proactively identifying cross-selling opportunities through borrower interactions.
• Reviewing daily reports of delinquent loans and taking affirmative action to collect payments.
• Documenting customer communications in designated record-keeping platforms.
• Conducting reviews of existing loans for compliance, quality, covenant, and exception monitoring.
• Monitoring delinquent real estate tax reports and insurance requirements associated with the loan.
• Reviewing documentation generated by SBA and Sr. Portfolio Managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 6+ years relevant portfolio management experience.
• Strong analytical skills including the ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements.
• Strong knowledge of basic banking products and commercial lending products.

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Requirements
