[Hiring] Tax Preparer @Somewhere

Role Description

Our client, an established US-based CPA firm, is looking for experienced Tax Preparers to join their growing back-end accounting team. This is a permanent, year-round, full-time position—not a seasonal tax role. In addition to handling client portfolios, you will assist with our client's internal bookkeeping. Our client provides full access to all necessary enterprise software, tax platforms, and systems.

• Maintain accurate books for a dedicated portfolio of small business clients in QuickBooks.
• Complete monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Process periodic client payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare, review, and file state and local sales tax returns.
• Assist with our client’s own internal bookkeeping and reporting.
• Prepare federal and state tax returns for US individuals and business entities (e.g., 1040, 1065, 1120-S) using CCH or similar tax software.
• Gather, verify, and organize client source documents and workpapers required for filing.
• Support the accounting team through busy tax season deadlines and extension filing periods.
• Assist with ad-hoc administrative or light executive support tasks during off-peak seasons.

Qualifications

• Proven track record preparing US individual and business tax returns.
• Hands-on experience with reconciliations, payroll processing, and sales tax filings.
• Strong working proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop).
• Hands-on experience with CCH Axcess/ProSystem fx or equivalent professional tax software.
• Clear, professional written English for daily team collaboration.
• Dedicated full-time availability matching US Eastern business hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET).

Requirements

• Prior experience working at a US CPA firm or accounting practice catering to small/mid-sized businesses.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or equivalent accounting accreditation.
• Familiarity with franchise businesses or brick-and-mortar retail client accounting.
• Strong spoken English fluency and an interest in taking on executive/administrative support responsibilities.
