[Hiring] Sr. Technical Accountant @UPSIDE Foods

Role Description

UPSIDE Foods is growing and entering an exciting new period of its history around scaling up our operations as we enter into commercialization. As the Sr Technical Accountant, you’ll be the resident expert in technical accounting research and play a critical contributor role during the audit.

• Research and interpret accounting literature
• Develop technical accounting memos
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP
• Deliver high-quality financial reporting

Responsibilities Include

• Lead the technical accounting analysis for complex, unusual, and/or significant transactions
• Provide technical accounting guidance across all functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Research and interpret U.S. GAAP to develop and present clear accounting positions to management
• Participate in discussions with external auditors
• Drive audit readiness by preparing high-quality technical memorandums
• Assist in preparation of financial statements and various footnotes, including the statement of cash flows
• Track and assess new ASC disclosure requirements and make updates accordingly
• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures
• Propose journal entries and support General Accounting Manager with preliminary reviews
• Own designated month end close responsibilities for other general areas of accounting
• Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance reporting timelines, accuracy, and automation
• Help with other special finance projects and ad-hoc requests

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant work experience including two years in public accounting
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP with experience researching and applying FASB ASC guidance
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ERP required, Microsoft Business Central a plus
• Technical accounting experience with CPG a plus
• CPA, Chartered Accountant, and/or Big 4 Audit Experience a bonus

Requirements

• Candidates local to the SF Bay area with ability to commute to our Emeryville offices are preferred
• Remote candidates will be considered in the following states: CA, CO, GA, IL, MA, MO, NC, UT, WA

Compensation Range

• $112,000 - $135,000*
• Pay may vary depending on factors including location, job-related knowledge, and skills
