Role Description
This role is remote from anywhere in the US.
As the Senior Manager, Billing & Accounts Receivable, you will own NEOGOVβs Order to Cash operations end to end, from accurate, on-time invoicing through collections and customer inquiries. Reporting directly to the VP Corporate Controller, you will lead a team of 10, including a Billing Manager and the accounts receivable team. You will set and track the KPIs that measure our performance and build the processes, controls and automation that make billing and collections accurate, timely and scalable. This is a hands-on role for an operator who follows through and delivers results.
What You Will Do
-
Lead Billing and Accounts Receivable Operations:
Own the end-to-end billing process through the Billing Manager, ensuring invoices are accurate and on time. Directly lead the collections team and ensure we meet SLAs on customer responses.
-
Own Collections Performance:
Manage DSO, AR aging, past-due balances and collection rates. Partner with the Billing Manager on credit memos and rebills with appropriate review and approval.
-
Build an Account-Ownership Model:
Structure the collections team so each specialist owns a portfolio of customers end to end, including outbound collections and inbound customer inquiries, with clear routing, backup coverage and response-time SLAs.
-
Own and Report KPIs:
Track and report weekly and monthly on key metrics, including DSO, past-due percentage, collection effectiveness, invoice accuracy, on-time billing and inquiry response times. Present trends, root causes and improvement plans to the VP Corporate Controller and senior leadership.
-
Lead and Develop the Team:
Lead and mentor a team of 10 billing and accounts receivable professionals, including the Billing Manager. Set clear goals, track performance against KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and provide the training and documented procedures the team needs to work accurately and consistently.
-
Improve Processes, Controls and Systems:
Document and standardize billing and collections processes, build quality-review steps that catch errors before they reach customers, and identify opportunities for AI and automation. Design and maintain SOX-compliant controls across Order to Cash.
-
Build Strong Cross-Functional Partnerships:
Work closely with Sales, Renewals, Customer Success and Legal to resolve billing discrepancies, answer customer inquiries and improve customer satisfaction. Build trusted relationships so issues are resolved quickly and at the right level.
-
Resolve Complex Issues:
Work with the Billing Manager and Sales leadership on complex billing and contracting issues.
Who You Are
-
A Hands-On Operator:
You stay close to the work. You know what is happening in billing and collections day to day, follow through on commitments without reminders, and balance process improvement and SOX control design with running daily operations.

A Proven Team Builder:
You coach and develop people, set clear expectations and KPIs, hold the team accountable, and build high-performing finance teams.
-
A Cross-Functional Partner:
You build trust with Sales, Customer Success, Legal, Renewals and executive leadership. You translate billing and contracting requirements clearly and resolve issues quickly, protecting both cash collection and the customer experience.
-
A Process & Systems Builder:
You have a track record of documenting processes, driving system implementations and automation, and making continuous improvements in fast-paced software environments.

You track the metrics that matter, including DSO, AR aging and accuracy rates, spot problems early, and turn data into clear recommendations for leadership.
