Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant who can turn complexity into clarity. This is a business-facing position responsible for helping leadership understand where costs originate, why variances occur, how inventory moves through the business, and what the numbers are telling us about operational performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

CPA designation strongly preferred.

Significant experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting, retail accounting, or a similarly operational environment.

Strong understanding of cost allocation methodologies, inventory accounting, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, complex formulas, financial modeling, and large dataset analysis.

Demonstrated ability to identify issues, investigate root causes, and recommend practical solutions.

Strong attention to detail combined with an ability to see the broader business impact.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.

Comfortable managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Stay current on changes in cost accounting standards and best practices.

Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes to support timely and accurate financial reporting.

Review inventory movements, standard versus actual costs, and variance accounts to support accurate costing and timely insights.

Support ERP implementation and integration to improve cost accounting processes and data accuracy.

Support the Finance team with ad hoc projects and special reports as needed.

Maintain accurate financial records and collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, and Accounting to streamline financial processes.

Prepare and analyze monthly cost reports, cost forecasts, budgets, financial analyses, and cost audits.

Monitor inventory accuracy, including packaging.
-
Perform account reconciliations for all variance accounts.
-
Maintain and analyze cost data, ensuring accurate allocation of labor, materials, and overhead.
