Regional Government Services (RGS) is seeking public agency finance professionals at multiple levels to join its finance consulting team. Candidates may be considered for placement at the Technical Specialist, Advisor, or Senior Advisor level based on their public sector finance experience, technical expertise, communication skills, project support experience, project leadership experience, and ability to work within the RGS consulting model.

This is not a traditional single-agency Finance recruitment. Rather, this recruitment is designed to identify finance consulting and technical finance support talent who can support RGS partner agencies through project-based, team-based, and flexible advisory services. Successful candidates may support multiple agencies, participate in consulting teams, lead or contribute to finance-related projects, carry out assigned technical finance tasks, and help assess the level and type of financial support an agency needs.

RGS is especially interested in candidates who bring public sector finance, accounting, budgeting, financial recordkeeping, reporting, and technical support expertise; who can evaluate financial information and operational processes; and who are energized by the opportunity to work collaboratively as part of a flexible, growing finance consulting team.

Requirements

• Provide senior-level public agency finance consulting, technical assistance, project leadership, and advisory support.
• Assess finance operations, including staffing, workload distribution, internal controls, budget practices, financial reporting, fiscal procedures, service delivery methods, and process improvement opportunities.
• Develop, administer, monitor, and analyze operating budgets, capital budgets, special fund budgets, grants, long-term financial forecasts, and year-to-date budget performance.
• Identify emerging financial risks, budget overruns, weak internal controls, compliance concerns, operational inefficiencies, and long-term sustainability issues.
• Translate complex financial concepts into clear, practical information for executives, department directors, governing boards, staff, auditors, and external agencies.
