Help Small Business Owners Make Smarter Decisions

At Breakwater Accounting + Advisory, we don’t just produce financials, we help business owners understand them, trust them, and use them to grow. We’re looking for a strategic, client-facing accountant who wants to go beyond the numbers and become a true advisor to small businesses.

What You’ll Actually Do

• Act as the primary accounting advisor for a portfolio of small business clients (<$7M revenue)
• Lead monthly and quarterly conversations that turn financials into clear insights and action
• Identify opportunities, risks, and blind spots, and guide clients toward better decisions
• Translate financial data into simple, practical recommendations owners can actually use
• Partner with clients on topics like cash flow, profitability, and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with your team to ensure financials are accurate, then spend your time using them, not just reviewing them

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting
• 5+ years of experience in small business accounting, client accounting services, or similar
• Strong understanding of financial statements and how they connect to business performance
• Experience working directly with clients and explaining financials
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
• Comfort with technology and curiosity to learn new tools
• Strong communication skills. You can make complex things feel simple
