Role Description
This is a senior, hands-on accounting role with a clear mandate: own the books of the companyβs fiat entities, from licence to steady state. You will take end-to-end ownership of four entities: two e-money institutions in the EU and the UK that are in the licensing pipeline, plus fiat entities in the US and Canada.
For the new EMIs, the first months are about building accounting properly from an empty ledger. Safeguarding and prudential requirements apply from the first day of trading, and volumes ramp quickly once licences land. If you want to set up EMI accounting from scratch rather than run a finished process, this role is built for you.
You will report to the Accounting and Financial Reporting Lead and work as an individual contributor within a small accounting team. Each accountant owns specific legal entities end to end, and responsibilities do not overlap.
What you will own
-
Entity accounting: day-to-day accounting for four fiat entities in Xero (multi-currency), from set-up through steady state.
-
New entity set-up: chart of accounts, bank mapping, close calendar and statutory and tax filing calendar for each newly licensed entity.
-
EMI accounting and reporting: safeguarding and client-money reconciliations designed with Treasury, inputs for own-funds and capital-adequacy calculations, and EMI regulatory returns to the national regulator and the FCA, end to end.
-
Month-end close: for every entity, covering bank reports mapped by counterparty and intercompany, accruals, prepayments, loans, payroll entries and FX revaluation.
-
Intercompany: recording and reconciling heavy intercompany flows with Treasury, and supporting transfer pricing documentation.
-
Local statutory and tax compliance: EU and UK annual accounts, VAT and statistical reporting, Companies House and HMRC deadlines, and year-end inputs for the US and Canada. You will prepare the data and own the filing calendar, working with external tax advisers.
-
Invoice control: checking that supplier invoices meet local tax requirements before payment.
-
Audit and group reporting: consolidation inputs, audit schedules and auditor queries for your entities.
-
Management accounts: monthly entity-level accounts, analytical review of P&L and balance-sheet movements, and investigation of unusual items before close sign-off.
-
Process build: documented close procedures and controls for each new entity, designed to scale after licensing.
Qualifications

-
Multi-entity, multi-currency accounting, including intercompany reconciliation, FX revaluation and group consolidation.
