Role Description

Are you an experienced private client tax professional looking for real flexibility, technically engaging work and the chance to play a key part in a growing specialist practice? This is an opportunity to join an established boutique firm advising individuals, families, trusts and estates. The role is available full-time or part-time (around 20 hours per week minimum), is entirely home-based, and offers flexibility in how you arrange your hours.

The position spans personal tax, trusts, estates and inheritance tax, with a mix of compliance and advisory work. Estates work for executors, solicitors and families is a growing area for the firm, so experience with estate accounts and IHT400 returns would be a real advantage.

The role could suit someone currently in an accountancy or tax firm, a specialist private client team, or the private client department of a law firm. You'll have independence in managing your work and direct contact with clients and introducers, with senior technical support on hand when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Handling annual personal tax compliance for a client portfolio, including high net worth individuals
• Preparing and reviewing Self Assessment returns
• Preparing trust and estate tax returns
• Producing estate accounts for executors and personal representatives
• Completing IHT400 returns and supporting schedules
• Helping executors and advisers with tax issues arising during estate administration
• Advising on Capital Gains Tax, including property sales and transactions within families
• Supporting inheritance tax and estate planning work
• Assisting with trust tax matters and related compliance
• Advising on residence, overseas income and clients with international connections where relevant
• Preparing EIS and SEIS claims and advising on the associated reliefs
• Corresponding with HMRC on clients' behalf
• Collaborating with solicitors, accountants, financial planners and other referrers
• Building long-standing, trusted client relationships
• Supporting senior advisers on more complex planning projects

Qualifications

• A solid foundation in UK personal tax is essential
• Experience in personal tax compliance, especially for high net worth clients
• Experience in trust taxation and trust returns
• Experience in estate administration and estate returns
• Experience in estate accounts
• Experience with IHT400s and supporting schedules
• Experience in inheritance tax and estate planning
• Experience in Capital Gains Tax, including property and family transactions
• Experience with EIS and SEIS claims
• Direct liaison with clients and professional advisers
• Managing your own caseload and deadlines
