Role Description
The Managing Director of Public Finance is responsible for taking ownership of all tasks and challenges encountered in the operation of their assigned position. This role involves providing financial solutions for a broad range of tax-exempt issues for both private and public entities, including:

Working closely with state, county, and municipal issuers to tailor financing structures to their distinctive objectives.

Delivering high levels of liquidity at competitive rates through negotiated transactions.
Essential Functions

Create, build, and maintain relationships with municipal issuers, its officers, and other stakeholders.

Review structure, timing, and other matters regarding potential issuance of bonds with potential municipal issuers.

Work with legal and advisory firms to create disclosures and other documents for potential issuance.

Collaborate with the underwriting desk to price and successfully deliver new issuance to market and refund existing municipal debt.

Work with legal and advisory firms to close new issues.

Analyze issuers’ existing debt to identify refinancing opportunities.

Structure new debt transactions.

Review all legal documents for accuracy.

Maintain compliance with MSRB, FINRA, and SEC regulations.

Manage select associates and assist them in their continued development.

Ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies, procedures, code of conduct, and regulatory guidelines.

Provide assistance to other employees through healthy and positive interactions.

Participate in marketing endeavors/efforts.

Continuously update skills by participating in professional training.

Seek opportunities to improve skills through cross-training offered by the Bank.

Perform all other tasks, responsibilities, or duties as directed by management.

Proficiency with Munex Public Finance or similar software.

Proficient with general office machines and programs, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant software.

Good knowledge of business English, including spelling and punctuation.

Basic English language skills to write and speak clearly and effectively with coworkers and customers.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or related field.

5+ years of Public Finance Banking experience preferred.

Strong understanding of macroeconomics and fixed income markets.

Proficiency with Munex Public Finance or similar software.
-
Strong knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, and other software used in the department.

Ability to prepare documents and compose business letters and memorandums.
-
Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and general office machines.
-
SIE, Series 7 or Series 52, and Series 63 exams required or successful completion of these exams within 90 days of hire.
Training Requirements/Classes

Required annual compliance training.

Obtain and/or maintain applicable securities licenses (FINRA Series 7 or Series 52, Series 63, and SIE).
Physical Demands
Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports. This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer, which can be done sitting or standing with the use of the right desk.
Work Environment
This position is located in a cubicle environment that may be loud throughout the day. Telecommuting roles, whether hybrid or 100% full-time telecommuting, must have a secure home office environment free from background noise and distractions. A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by cellular data (hot spot) is required; cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change as new systems and technology are delivered.
Travel
Travel as needed to client locations and to represent the firm at client/industry events as requested.
