Role Description
As part of the Group Medicare organization, the Group Medicare Underwriter performs complex underwriting analysis and risk assessment for existing and prospective Medicare Advantage customers. This role serves as a strategic business partner to sales and account management teams, helping drive growth through sound underwriting practices, pricing strategies, and consultative support.

Perform underwriting analysis and risk assessment for existing Group Medicare Advantage customers.

Evaluate new business opportunities and develop pricing recommendations for prospective Group Medicare Advantage groups.

Partner with field sales and account management teams on strategic large employer group opportunities.

Calculate complex prospective group rates utilizing established underwriting methodologies and pricing protocols.

Analyze benefit design options and provide strategic recommendations related to pricing and competitiveness.

Communicate and explain rate development, pricing assumptions, and underwriting decisions to internal and external stakeholders.

Present underwriting and pricing information to employers and brokers in support of business development efforts.

Utilize advanced rating, financial, and underwriting tools to analyze risk and profitability.

Conduct competitive analyses and develop financial comparisons to support business strategy.

Participate in or lead process improvement initiatives and special projects.
Qualifications

4+ years of underwriting experience, including pricing methodologies and funding arrangements.

Group Medicare underwriting experience OR Fully Insured underwriting experience is required.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to effectively partner with sales teams, account management, and underwriting leadership.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications.

Ability to clearly communicate complex financial and underwriting concepts to diverse audiences.
