Role Description

This is a mid-senior role for an experienced accounting professional who has moved beyond execution and is ready to own quality and mentor others β without yet carrying the full client relationship and close leadership of a Controller.

Support the month-end close process across multiple CPG client engagements β prepare journal entries and schedules.

Review and provide feedback on the work of Senior and Staff Accountants, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client-specific accounting policies.

Perform and review inventory accounting, including COGS reconciliation, landed cost tracking, purchase order matching, and inventory reserve analysis.

Review and reconcile trade spend activity β including slotting fees, promotional allowances, co-op advertising, and retailer deductions.

Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor/customer subledger reconciliations across multiple sales channels (DTC, Amazon, wholesale).

Assist in the preparation and review of monthly financial packages, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements with supporting variance commentary.

Oversee data flows and reconciliations between platforms such as Shopify and Amazon Seller Central and accounting systems (QBO, NetSuite), flagging discrepancies for resolution.

Help prepare client books for audits, lender reporting, and investor data requests.

Identify workflow gaps and escalate recommendations for process improvements, chart of accounts structure, and system configurations to the Controller or engagement lead.

Collaborate with client contacts on purchase order workflows, 3PL reconciliations, and inventory cycle counts.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

8β12 years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful exposure to CPG, consumer brands, or product-based businesses.

Prior consulting experience.

Prior supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to review and coach the work of Senior and Staff Accountants β catching errors, providing feedback, and raising quality across the team.
Requirements

Master's in Accounting (MAcc).

CPA or active CPA candidate.

Experience supporting venture-backed or early-stage consumer brands.

Proficiency with e-commerce reconciliation tools such as A2X.

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliation templates).

Excellent communication skills β comfortable translating accounting detail for founders and non-finance stakeholders.

Ability to manage competing deadlines across a multi-client book of business.

Solid working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) and/or NetSuite.

Experience reconciling Shopify, Amazon, or other e-commerce platforms to the general ledger.

Familiarity with 3PL reconciliations and inventory management platforms preferred (e.g., Katana, Cin7).

Working knowledge of inventory accounting methods.

Comfortable managing competing priorities across multiple clients or entities.
