Role Description

Kiva's Impact Investments team works with investees from all over the world, including lending partners who fundraise on Kiva.org, as well as investees accepting debt financing from funds managed by Kiva’s traditional impact investing arm, Kiva Capital Management. The team is responsible for sourcing, monitoring and managing relationships with investees, onboarding and training new partners, and ensuring that all funding relationships are compliant with relevant policies and aligned with Kiva's social mission and strategic focus. The Impact Investments team includes staff based in the US, Colombia, Kenya, and Thailand, who manage Kiva’s investment relationships in every region of the world. We are looking for a talented and highly motivated professional to join our team in Bangkok.

The Investment Associate will be responsible for monitoring institutional partner performance metrics and trends with a focus on Europe and Asia. This is an early career opportunity that assists Kiva’s Impact Investments team in onboarding, monitoring, and supporting our large network of international investment partners. The Investment Associate will report to a Senior Investment Manager and will collaborate closely with other team members across the Impact Investments team. This role will facilitate support for partners to ensure compliance with Kiva’s policies and the effective and efficient use of Kiva’s systems. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented and a positive team player who is passionate about Kiva’s mission, can analyze financial and operational data to assess partner performance, and is able to execute complex processes efficiently and accurately.

At this time, we can only consider applicants with authorization to work in Thailand on a permanent, full-time basis; unfortunately we cannot provide visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of work experience in investment management, commercial lending, financial analysis, business analytics, or a related field involving credit risk evaluation and business assessment
  • Proven experience in financial statement analysis
  • Ability to manage time well and prioritize across competing tasks
  • Flexibility and willingness to maintain a dynamic schedule in order to work across varying time zones
  • Able to travel occasionally when possible and to adapt to various international work environments
  • Effective while working remotely
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to tailor communications to a wide variety of audiences and stakeholders across multiple cultures
  • Tech savvy. High level of proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google Suite office software, and adept at learning and using technology platforms
  • English fluency required. Proficiency in another language frequently used in the portfolio of investments this role will serve, such as Indonesian, Russian, Khmer, Thai, or Vietnamese, is preferred.

Requirements

  • Work with Investment Managers to monitor partners’ performance metrics by inputting partner financial and risk data into standardized templates, following up with partners to resolve any issues, and reviewing financial analysis outputs
  • Conduct due diligence for prospective partners, write up results, and support Investment Managers in presenting information to the Investment Committee
  • Support Investment Managers in preparing for onsite due diligence and monitoring visits
  • Support with overall portfolio management of partners
  • Manage and maintain up-to-date partner documentation and information in Kiva's various systems
  • Manage or support onboarding and training new partners with regards to Kiva’s systems
  • Answer partners’ operational questions and issues related to using Kiva’s systems and tools
  • Monitor compliance with general Kiva policies. Communicate Kiva’s policies and updates on new developments to partners
  • Support Investment Managers in addressing operational challenges that arise with specific partnerships
