Role Description

Our client is a global travel technology company. It runs consumer travel platforms and powers partner-branded channels through a dedicated B2B division, with partners that include airlines, banks, and travel providers. Its products span flights, hotels, rental cars, and travel fintech, and billions of transactions flow through its systems.

The business has scaled quickly, and its order-to-cash processes have not kept pace. Years of unapplied cash, payments recorded without a customer or invoice, and balances counted twice have left the AR aging unreliable. The CFO has set a firm target of a clean, accurate aging by December 31.

You will take over and lead that cleanup in NetSuite, reporting into finance leadership and working directly with the hiring manager. The work spans multiple revenue streams, including airline commissions, partner billing, and fintech products, with the company acting as merchant of record in some cases. Beyond the cleanup, you will redesign how cash is received, identified, recorded, and collected, and guide an AR Analyst who handles daily cash application.

This is a role for a hands-on operator who can define the future state and build the path to get there, with real visibility to senior finance leaders. A Salesforce-to-NetSuite billing implementation follows the cleanup, and the right person may help lead it.

Key Responsibilities

• AR Cleanup
  • Lead the cleanup of the AR aging in NetSuite, including multi-year unapplied cash in the millions
  • Resolve payments applied without invoices, paid invoices still showing open, and cash booked via journal entry
  • Identify invoices double counted between the AR aging and unbilled receivables
  • Investigate disputed and partially paid balances, and contact customers to verify where needed
  • Review unbilled balances, confirm validity, and push anything billable through to invoicing
  • Book corrective journal entries independently and reconcile AR to the balance sheet
  • Deliver a clean AR aging by December 31
• Process and Automation
  • Redesign order-to-cash processes, including how cheques and wires are received, identified, and recorded
  • Build an automated dunning process with a reminder cadence, overdue notices, and internal escalation paths for non-responsive customers
  • Use AI tools and NetSuite functionality to speed up cleanup and reduce manual collections work
  • Support the rollout of a new cash management tool going live in December
  • Strengthen AR internal controls and document best-practice procedures that hold up after the engagement
• Day-to-Day Operations
  • Oversee cash application and collections follow-up
  • Guide and review the work of an AR Analyst
  • Act as the AR subject matter expert for finance leadership

Qualifications

• Hands-on NetSuite AR experience, including cash application, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Proven track record cleaning up a messy AR subledger, including unapplied cash and aged balances
• Experience designing or redesigning order-to-cash processes in a scaling company
• Strong accounting foundation: you know why the AR schedule is wrong, not just that it is
• Process improvement and internal controls mindset
• Comfortable working independently with an end state and no step-by-step playbook
• Clear communicator with customers, partners, and senior finance leaders

Nice to Have

• Travel, marketplace, or multi-revenue-stream billing background (merchant of record exposure is a plus)
• CPA designation
• Collections or dunning automation experience
• Practical use of AI tools in accounting workflows
• Multi-currency or multi-entity AR exposure
