[Hiring] Head of Finance @Ecitb

Role Description

As a key member of our Finance team, you’ll work closely with the Finance Director to provide strong financial leadership, oversee the Finance function and ensure effective financial management, control and insight across ECITB. You’ll take responsibility for the quality and integrity of our financial reporting, statutory compliance, financial planning and forecasting, helping us use reliable financial information to guide strategic and day-to-day decisions.

You’ll build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation, offering clear advice, constructive challenge and financial assurance. You’ll also step in for the Finance Director when needed and lead the ongoing development of our Finance team, helping it build its capabilities, work effectively and contribute to ECITB’s priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsibility for the integrity and timely delivery of ECITB financial reporting, statutory accounts and financial planning.
• Set the overall approach to budgeting, forecasting, cash and balance sheet management.
• Own the overall financial control and governance framework, ensuring policies, systems and controls remain proportionate and effective.
• Act as the trusted source to the Finance Director, SLT and any other stakeholders.
• Lead on the Finance transformation and continuous-improvement agenda to improve efficiency, insight and control.
• Provide financial insight, challenge and assurance to help assess opportunities.
• Support the wider organisation by providing recommendations understanding financial implications, risks, opportunities and required actions.
• Any other ad hoc duties.

Qualifications

• Full professional accounting qualification and current membership of ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, with at least five years relevant post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience of successfully leading, managing and developing a finance team.
• Experience across management reporting, financial planning, statutory reporting and financial control.
• Ability to produce and present high-quality financial information for senior leadership, Board and/or committee audiences.
• Proven ability to influence, advise and constructively challenge.
• Ability to articulate complex issues.
• Strong systems and spreadsheet capability; experience of improving finance systems and reporting tools is desirable.

The ECITB works with employers and training providers to attract, develop and qualify the engineering construction workforce in a wide range of craft, technical and professional disciplines.

We invest about £28 million each year to support skills development within the industry. We are funded by a statutory levy paid by employers and use this to drive up skill levels and fund training that would otherwise not take place.
