Role Description

Mercer is seeking a Financial Crimes Analyst to join our Pacific Risk & Controls capability, supporting our superannuation administration operations. The position is available from either Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide or Brisbane.

This role helps ensure Mercer and our Trustee clients meet regulatory and contractual obligations across AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud and corruption, operating within defined risk parameters and governance frameworks.

You will partner with a broad internal stakeholder group across Mercer, including business leaders and teams, Risk & Compliance, and corporate functions (Legal, Audit, Finance, HR). You may also be required to provide clear verbal and written updates to clients on AML/CTF matters relevant to operations.

We will count on you to:

  • Investigate and report unusual and suspicious matters in line with AML/CTF requirements.
  • Conduct transaction monitoring, PEP and sanctions screening, and enhanced customer due diligence (ECDD) checks.
  • Maintain a financial crime register to capture key statistics, trends, and insights.
  • Support the development and upkeep of policies and procedures across Pacific Administration Operations.
  • Assist in developing and enhancing controls and treatment plans related to financial crime risks.
  • Contribute to fraud risk assessments across Administration Operations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in a compliance and/or operations-based role within Financial Services and/or Superannuation.
  • Strong understanding of risk and compliance principles and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge across relevant regulatory areas, including AML/CTF, KYC, Customer Due Diligence, sanctions, privacy, and conflicts management.
  • Strong business/process analysis and risk identification capability.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and deliver outcomes within deadlines.
  • Solid PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
