Role Description

This is a 14-month contract position providing essential coverage for a maternity leave. However, Upsun is a rapidly scaling organization; for a high-performer who thrives in our environment, there is a possibility of transitioning into a permanent full-time role as our finance team continues to expand to meet the needs of the business.

As a Financial Analyst, you are a key driver of our financial planning and decision-making. Your responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining financial models that guide annual budgets and long-term strategy.
• Creating comprehensive performance reports and tracking KPIs to highlight opportunities for improvement.
• Strengthening business visibility, supporting leadership decisions, and ensuring financial discipline across the organization.

From day one, you’ll be immersed in SaaS-specific financial planning, analyzing:

• Subscription revenue
• Recurring expenses
• ARR
• Churn
• Acquisition costs

You’ll collaborate across departments, translating numbers into insights and building trust as a financial business partner. You’ll also provide analytical support for M&A activities, ensuring informed investments that fuel sustainable growth.

You thrive in fast-moving, detail-driven environments, bringing clarity to complexity and championing best practices that enhance both accuracy and efficiency. Your key tasks include:

• Building, maintaining, and optimizing SaaS-specific financial models of budgets and forecasts.
• Conducting detailed variance analyses and providing leadership with clear, data-driven recommendations.
• Partnering with business units to gather inputs and ensure alignment between operational plans and financial goals.
• Championing best practices in budgeting and reporting to improve accuracy, efficiency, and visibility.
• Contributing to month-end and year-end close processes.
• Driving automation and efficiency by streamlining workflows in our FP&A platform.
• Providing modeling, forecasting, and analytical support for M&A projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
• Strong understanding of SaaS business models and KPIs, including ARR, churn, CAC, and recurring revenue structures.
• Prior experience with FP&A tools and comfort optimizing financial systems and workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and quantitative skills.
• Ability to clearly explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
