Role Description
The Financial Analyst is responsible for the development, analysis, and execution of budgets, proposals, and cost estimates including, but not limited to, annual operating budgets, federal and state government contract-based proposals, contract pricing change requests, and commercial pricing. This position collaborates with company leaders to provide financial insight and assists in the development of forecasts to fulfill both internal and external requirements. This position analyzes financial data, identifies and researches variances and potential areas of concerns, and presents the results to various levels of leadership and internal/external customers. This position creates financial models to support organizational decision making.

Prepares financial forecasts for company leaders and internal/external customers.

Evaluates historical and current financial data to understand the companyβs financial status and to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Initiates and facilitates meetings regularly with various levels of management within the organization to review discrepancies between forecasts and actual costs incurred.

Prepares monthly spreadsheets and presentations about past and current budget statuses in conjunction with forecasting updates and new variances found.

Analyzes financial information investigating anomalies and variances to identify potential areas of concern across all lines of business.

Creates financial models to facilitate organizational strategic decision making and provides support for leadership.

Recognizes financial trends and provides insight to appropriate stakeholders.

Collaborates with leadership to provide financial guidance, education, and technical assistance with cost analysis, resource allocation, and budget preparation.

Prepares and finalizes requested financial reporting for government contracts and other internal and external customers ensuring all deliverable timeframes are met.

Prepares and presents cost impacts for potential projects.

Ensures all data and reports are documented and retained for audit purposes.

Interprets and completes requests for proposals (RFP) on behalf of the organization, prices for federal and state government contracts, private contracts, and modification to current contracts.

Researches and analyzes data to provide descriptive and predictive analytical insights, develop necessary documentation, and translate these outcomes for internal and external customers to build and/or improve processes.

Develops, formats, and communicates results in a manner that meets the needs of stakeholders.

Assists in identifying, compiling, and providing key metrics in order to provide complete reports for forecasting analysis.

Regularly provides expertise and counsel to internal and/or external customers.

Interprets and synthesizes data based on facts and expertise.

Easily shifts workload to accommodate for unexpected new assignments that are time sensitive.

Ability to research and analyze business patterns from data.

Ability to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met.

Ability to present information effectively with recommendations to management.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field OR equivalent work experience.

3 years' experience in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.

Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

In depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Significant analytical skills needed to review actual, historical, and forward trending costs.
Requirements

Proficient in Microsoft applications (preferred).

Excellent written and oral communication skills (preferred).

Accounting certification (preferred).
