[Hiring] Finance Manager / Controller @Somewhere

Role Description

We are seeking a systems-driven Finance Manager/Controller to oversee financial operations for a growing real estate portfolio, combining hands-on accounting with strong financial insight. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of improving processes while supporting leadership with financial clarity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting & Financial Operations:
  • Manage daily accounting workflows, including transaction reconciliation and AP processes.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records and support month-end close.
• Systems & Process Management:
  • Oversee and optimize workflows in QuickBooks, Ramp, and internal tools.
  • Improve processes for scalability and resolve inefficiencies proactively.
• Financial Oversight & Analysis:
  • Review financial data, identify discrepancies, and ensure accuracy.
  • Build financial models and provide performance insights across entities.
• Strategic Support & Ownership:
  • Support leadership with actionable financial insights and recommendations.
  • Help develop scalable financial systems and act as a key financial operator.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related role.
• Experience working across multiple entities or business units.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Experience with Ramp or similar AP/expense management platforms (highly preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, data analysis, structured reporting).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (accruals, reconciliations, classifications).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in real estate, property management, or multi-entity environments.
• Background in a Controller, Senior Accountant, or Finance Manager role.
• Experience working with remote or international teams.
• Familiarity with AI tools and automation in finance workflows.
• Experience building or improving financial processes from scratch.

Requirements

• Priority Location: South Africa / Latin America.
• Working Hours: Monday–Friday EST.
• Salary Range: $3000 - 4000 per month (The final offer is at the client’s discretion and depends on the candidate’s interview result, skills, and experience).
• Type of contract: Independent Contractor.
