Role Description
We are looking for a Finance Controller to own and strengthen India finance end-to-end. This is not a back-office accounting role — it is a high-ownership position that brings control, operational context, and decision support into a setup currently driven by external partners. You will act as the single owner for India finance, improving the quality of financial close, ensuring compliance, and integrating finance more closely with business operations. This is a high-impact, high-ownership Controller role focused on bringing control, predictability, and scalability into India finance while acting as a trusted partner to global finance leadership.
What You’ll Do
-
Financial Close & Reporting Discipline:
Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for India with a focus on clean, accurate, and predictable reporting. Improve the quality of accruals, provisions, and reconciliations, and ensure all outputs are consolidation-ready for global reporting.
-
Finance Ownership for India:
Act as the single point of accountability for India finance. Drive follow-ups, ensure closure on open items, and bring structure, visibility, and discipline across all finance activities.
-
Compliance & Audit Readiness:
Own statutory compliance (GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, PF, etc.) with zero missed filings. Ensure the organization is audit-ready at all times, and manage statutory, tax, and internal audits end-to-end while closing observations with sustainable fixes.
-
Vendor & Partner Management:
Take full ownership of outputs from external partners (Vistra, BDO, etc.). Review, challenge, and elevate the quality of deliverables, ensuring they are aligned with business context. Move from dependency to strong internal control and oversight.
-
Expense Governance & Controls:
Take ownership of all employee and operational expenses in India, including review and approval of budgets and spends. Ensure policy adherence, strengthen controls, and drive visibility and discipline across expense management.
-
Integration with Business Operations:
Work closely with internal teams to understand business drivers and improve the accuracy and relevance of financial reporting. Bring context into numbers and identify opportunities for improvement.
-
Transfer Pricing & Governance:
Ensure continuity and follow-through on transfer pricing and APA-related matters. Coordinate effectively with tax advisors and ensure compliance in intercompany transactions and reporting.
-
Build for Scale:
Strengthen processes, documentation, and controls to support growth. Improve systems and workflows, and over time reduce reliance on outsourced partners by building stronger internal capabilities.
